State Safety Inspectors are required to successfully pass a written test for a new certification and re-certification. Re-certification testing is required every 4 years. You must submit an application to the Motor Vehicle Control Inspection Office and receive approval prior to scheduling a test. You are allowed to test 3 times in a 1 year period.
